The Passion of The Christ is one of the greatest movies of all time and is among the most commercially successful. The Passion of The Christ won the People's choice Award by the largest margin in history. Despite its unprecedented success The Passion of The Christ did not receive a single Golden Globe Award nomination and it lost out to several films that most people would not even recognize.
Now the Oscars are coming and many people want to support The Passion of The Christ to ensure that it receives fair consideration. Sadly, most Hollywood elites are saying that the Academy will not nominate The Passion of The Christ for consideration for the Oscars. That is why we need your help to sign a petition now to defend The Passion of The Christ.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was originally formed to give artists recognition for their contributions to film, but unfortunately today many people are corrupting the Awards by spending ridiculous amounts of money to "buy" the Oscar. Mel Gibson & Icon Productions have decided not to engage in this type of promotion because they did not make The Passion of The Christ to win awards. Nevertheless, Oscar nominations carry tremendous weight in Hollywood, and an Academy Award for The Passion of The Christ could pave the way for future courageous films while recognizing the artistic achievements of this great movie.
Therefore, it is up to us out here in the grassroots of mainstream America to take our message to Hollywood.
We need your help to support The Passion of The Christ and to protect the integrity of the Academy Awards nomination process. We need you to help us by signing the petition that we are sending to the Academy to ask them to consider The Passion of The Christ. In addition, we are using the petition in our ad campaigns to let your voice be heard by the Academy and the Hollywood opinion leaders
Join us in our effort to SUPPORT The Passion of The Christ BY SIGNING OUR PETITION and PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW.
Hollywood is a town that awards artistic vision, independence and excellence . Let's remind them that a film from earlier this year deserves consideration for its writing, direction, cinematography, editing, set design, costumes and acting. It is The Passion of The Christ and it deserves a full and fair consideration by Academy voters. Filmgoers loved the movie and so did professionals.
"It's the only religious movie I've seen, with the exception of 'The Gospel According to St. Matthew' by [Italian director Pier Paolo] Pasolini, that really seems to deal with what actually happened," said Roger Ebert, Sun-Times film critic.
"This is the most powerful, important and by far the most graphic interpretation of Christ's final hours ever put on film," said Richard Roeper, a Sun-Times columnist. "Mel Gibson is a masterful storyteller, and this is the work of his lifetime. You have to admire not just Gibson for his vision and his directing abilities, but Jim Caviezel [as Christ] and the rest of the cast."
Rabbi Marc Gellman of Temple Beth Torah in Melville, N.Y., who partners with a Roman Catholic priest in a syndicated national column and TV show called "The God Squad," called the film a work of "stunning beauty and daring violence that forces all of us to grow up and learn to accept people who tell their own stories.”
